AI calorie counter, snap a meal and see its calories

Questions, bugs or ideas? Write to [email protected] and put Facetone in the subject, we read every message. Please add your iPhone model, iOS version and the app version (Profile, About).

How it works

Take a photo of your meal and Facetone lists the foods with their portions, calories, protein, carbs and fat. Check them, fix anything with a tap and log the meal. You can also scan a barcode or a nutrition label, describe a meal in words, search more than 12,000 foods or quick add calories. Your plan, macros, water, weight and progress photos are on the Diary and Progress tabs.

Common questions

Which iPhones can scan meals?

Meal photo scanning uses Apple Intelligence on your iPhone and needs iOS 27 on an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with Apple Intelligence turned on (Settings, Apple Intelligence and Siri). Describing a meal needs iOS 26 or later on the same iPhones. Barcode, label, search and quick add work on every supported iPhone.

The calories or portions look wrong

Portions in a photo are estimates. Tap a food to change its weight or name, or tap Change food to pick the right food from the database, the calories update at once. Adding the foods you eat often to Favorites makes the next log a tap.

My barcode is not found

Barcodes are looked up in Open Food Facts, an open database. If a product is missing, scan its nutrition label or enter its numbers once, Facetone remembers it by its barcode next time.

How does Apple Health work?

Turn on Apple Health in Profile. Logged meals and your weight go to Health, and your weight and the active calories you burn come back. With Add burned calories to the goal, the calories you burn raise the day's budget. You can change the permissions in the Health app, under Sharing, Apps, Facetone.

How is my daily goal calculated?

From your sex, age, height, weight and activity with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, minus or plus the calories of the weekly pace you picked, never below 1,200 calories a day for women and 1,500 for men. You can set your own goal and macro shares in Profile, Daily goal.

I bought Facetone Pro and still see ads

Purchases arrive within a few seconds. If not, open Profile and tap Restore purchases. It also brings Pro back on a new iPhone or after reinstalling, as long as you use the same Apple Account.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Facetone Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the ads for good, there is nothing to cancel. Every feature works without it.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Is my diary private?

Yes. There is no account, and your diary, photos and body details stay on your iPhone. Meal photos are read on the iPhone itself. That also means we cannot restore your diary for you, it comes back only with a device backup. Export diary in Profile saves it as a CSV file.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a single entry by opening it and tapping Delete, or everything with Profile, Delete all data. Deleting the app removes everything too. Data written to Apple Health stays in Health until you delete it there.

Is this medical advice?

No. Facetone gives estimates for general wellness. Talk to a doctor before big changes to your diet, especially if you are pregnant, under 18 or have a medical condition.

Privacy

Your diary stays on your device and there is no account, see the privacy policy. Facetone is published by Brainwave Learning Apps.
